Does your organization have a plan to keep your technology, data, and assets protected in the event of an emergency or disaster? What if it’s not an actual disaster like a hurricane or flood, but a staff member simply loses or breaks a laptop carrying essential supporter data? How much time or money might your organization spend trying to recover even a fraction of what’s been lost? If these questions have crossed your mind and your answers are less than ideal, you should join us for our two-part webinar series on disaster planning to protect your technology. TechSoup’s Becky Wiegand interviews nonprofit tech expert Chris Shipley from Nutmeg Consulting and Elliot Harmon, TechSoup staff writer and editor of our newly released The Resilient Organization: A Guide for Disaster Planning and Recovery. We also speak with Michelle Baldwin, Executive Director of Volunteers in Service to Others, which runs the Cooke County emergency food bank. They experienced a flood two years ago and she’ll be offering advice for other nonprofits trying to plan ahead. We discuss the ins and outs of getting your organization in tip-top shape before a disaster or crisis happens. We review best practices, tips, and resources for developing and implementing a disaster preparedness plan for technology at your organization that will help you not only when a crisis hits — but everyday with a more streamlined, efficient workplace.
Band : BoySetsFire, Album : After The Eulogy, Title : When Rhetoric Dies Lyrics : We raise the flags and statues to our mission. We’ve spoken out in slogans and in campaigns. Talked and talked on almost every issue. Where oppression of the masses is the constant theme. But what does this mean to a little town in Iowa, Where the jobs have gone downstream down south, down and out. Where their fingers used to work to the bone all day, Profits rise and fall and starvation is a game! Where is the food that used to cover their table?! Where is the sense of pride at the end of the day?! To the face of a thriving corporation! What could a dying family possibly say? On the face of every american worker, Is the constant fear that their job will not remain. As the ceo is planning his vacation, To kill or be killed is the nature of the beast. Where is the food that used to cover their table?! Where is the sense of pride at the end of the day?! To the face of a thriving corporation! What could a dying family possibly say? Stand in line take a number you sell your soul then watch it crumble, Into a pile of rubble that used to be your job, your life, Your family’s daily bread dry and stale malnourished kids! The house is sold for a degrading bid! Do we continue to talk, or do we take a hammer, to their chains! BSF!!!

Quick notes on this broadcast – the Constitutional rights of protestors from Calgary, the cuts done to seniors Vetrans Benefits by the Harper Government – and the victory over Keystone XL – keeping 120000 jobs in Canada (for now). We are independant media – and proud to serve our community in getting the information out – and keeping people involved. Change is happening – you are a part of it. Thanks to everyone who helped out – the next planning meetings are Monday (possibly Thurs) and Friday and Saturday Occupy Kelowna are planning actions in the city. More to come – stay tuned.
